Volume steps back from the prior day
Curve’s daily trading volume fell to $425 million on Oct. 30 UTC, nearly half the $847.44 million recorded a day earlier. DefiLlama’s daily series put the figure at $424.96 million. The drop looks large, but context matters. Activity was still about 335% above the prior seven-day median of $97.69 million, based on Oct. 23 to Oct. 29 totals.
3pool balances move away from USDT
The three-stablecoin pool known as 3pool also changed shape. Its USDT balance fell from 121.15 million tokens to 112.93 million across snapshots taken just before and near the end of the day. DAI rose from 20.61 million to 24.25 million, while USDC increased from 20.10 million to 24.56 million. USDT’s share of the pool’s nominal token balances dropped from 74.8% to 69.8%. That is a partial reversal, not a full reset. The pool still held a large USDT position at the end of the day.
Pool volume and chain totals
3pool handled $82.14 million on Oct. 30 UTC, down from $343.36 million the previous day. Curve’s chain-level dataset reported $420.72 million in trading volume for the same day, close to DefiLlama’s total. The two readings are not independent. DefiLlama’s adapter draws on Curve’s API, and Curve records liquidity-related volume separately from trading turnover. Ethereum accounted for $414.40 million of the reported trading volume, with Base at $2.67 million.
What the shift does and does not show
The balance changes describe pool composition, not trader motives. They are not evidence that any stablecoin lost its dollar peg. For liquidity providers, the move reduced concentration in USDT, perhaps easing one source of pool imbalance. Still, the remaining USDT share is high enough that the pool’s risk profile has not changed completely. The volume figure also says more about a return from a spike than about a quiet market. One day of data is thin, and the next sessions will show whether the 3pool tilt keeps easing or stalls.
