Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, accuses Coinbase of copying their Shibarium campaign title after Coinbase’s “Onchain Summer” announcement.
Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, has accused Coinbase of plagiarizing the title of their Shibarium campaign. This accusation comes in response to a recent tweet by Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, where he introduced the “Onchain Summer” campaign for Coinbase customers.
Armstrong’s Tweet Reveals
According to Armstrong’s tweet, Onchain Summer is set to start on August 8th and will celebrate the launch of the Base mainnet, a Layer 2 blockchain developed by Coinbase for Ethereum. The campaign promises a “multi-week festival of onchain art, music, gambling,” and more.
Base, as explained on the Coinbase website, will provide developers with the opportunity to build their projects on top of it. Over time, Coinbase plans for the new chain to become decentralized.
However, Shytoshi Kusama had already announced the beginning of the “Summer of Shibarium” in July. This campaign includes a series of exciting events leading up to the rollout of the Shibarium mainnet.
I just minted Bridge to Base, celebrating the start of @BuildOnBase bringing billions of people onchain.

One of the key features of the Summer of Shibarium is the release of the Shibarium Bridge in beta. This bridge allows users to transact assets between Shibarium and Ethereum without any additional fees or the need for third parties. Additionally, SHIB, the cryptocurrency associated with Shiba Inu, will be participating in the ETH Toronto (Blockchain Futurist Conference) in Canada on August 15th-16th.
As a major sponsor of the conference, Shiba Inu will host an outdoor cabana party where crypto enthusiasts and experts can network and enjoy themselves.
Will SHIB regain 2021 ATH after Shibarium launch?
During the conference, Shytoshi Kusama, using an AI app to conceal his identity, will deliver a speech. SHIB’s metaverse advisor, Marcie Jastrow, will also be speaking. Kusama has stated that all major SHIB-related projects and partners will be revealed during this event, and the Shibarium Layer 2 solution may even be launched there.
The SHIB community is eagerly looking forward to both the Shibarium launch and the blockchain conference. It is expected that once Shibarium goes live on the mainnet, the price of SHIB will surge towards the $0.01 level.
In October 2021, SHIB reached its all-time high of $0.00008845. However, it is currently trading more than 90% below that price level at $0.000008598. In the past 24 hours, the price has risen by 4.29% according to CoinMarketCap.
