Aave’s recent bounce has stalled, and the token is once again below a key weekly moving average. That leaves $AAVE exposed to another slide toward the $50 area, a level that has not been tested since earlier in the cycle.
At press time, Aave trades near $89. This is below the 20-week Exponential Moving Average, which sits around $96.70. That average has been acting as resistance since October 2025. Each attempt to reclaim it has failed, and the latest rejection happened after a recovery from roughly $60.
Why $96.70 matters now
The 20-week EMA is the immediate line in the sand. A decisive weekly close above it, followed by a successful retest, would weaken the bearish case. Without that, rallies are likely to attract sellers. If $AAVE continues to stay below this average, the next major support zone is between $49.50 and $50. That area aligns with the 1.0 Fibonacci retracement level. Moving from $89 to $50 would mean a loss of around 44% to 45%.
$50 is a historical magnet
The $50 zone has meaning beyond the Fibonacci retracement. Between 2022 and 2023, buyers repeatedly stepped in near those prices. Eventually, the token recovered and climbed much higher. If Aave revisits that range, long-term investors may see it as another accumulation spot. But past support does not guarantee future defense. A decisive break below $50 would invalidate that idea and could extend the broader downtrend.
What could turn the trend around
There is a bullish possibility, though it remains unconfirmed. Aave’s weekly chart may be forming an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern. The left shoulder sits near recent lows, the head is deeper around $60, and the right shoulder may be forming near the current price. The neckline is around $105. A strong breakout above that level could open a path toward $200.
But that is not the immediate hurdle. The token must first get past the 20-week EMA and then clear the wider $105–$125 resistance zone. Even if that happens, more obstacles wait above. The 50-week EMA is near $131, the 100-week EMA is around $153, and the 200-week EMA stands near $167. That creates a dense resistance cluster on the way to any potential upside target.
For now, Aave is at a critical point. A sustained move above $96.70 would improve the technical picture. Continued rejection, on the other hand, could bring the historically important $50 support zone back into focus.
