Galaxy has partnered with Total Safety to provide 24/7 emergency coverage at its Helios Data Center Campus in Dickens County, Texas. The service includes fire response, technical rescue, paramedic care and EMT support. Total Safety will handle incidents that start on campus.
Emergency team details remain limited
Galaxy has not said how many responders will be on each shift. It also has not listed the vehicles, medical equipment or firefighting systems placed at the property. There are no published response-time targets. Financial terms and the date for full operations were not disclosed.
The on-site team is meant to complement local volunteer fire and emergency medical services, not replace them. Galaxy said the goal is to avoid adding to the load on community responders. Austin Storms, Galaxy’s co-head of data centers, said the agreement creates a professional response capability on company property. Whether it reduces pressure on local agencies will depend on staffing, incident volume and coordination.
Distance to trauma care adds risk
The nearest trauma center is about 60 miles away in Lubbock. For an accident or medical emergency, that distance can delay advanced hospital care. On-site paramedics can assess, stabilize and treat people before transport. They cannot replace the services available at a trauma center.
The Helios team may also help Dickens County during grass fires, severe weather or other large incidents. That support would go through mutual-aid arrangements and coordination with local officials. Galaxy and Total Safety plan to train with local volunteer departments. They have not published a training schedule or rules for deploying campus responders elsewhere.
Helios is expanding
The emergency-services agreement comes as construction and computing operations grow. Galaxy finished Phase I in June, delivering 200 megawatts of gross power and 133 megawatts of critical IT load to CoreWeave. The former Bitcoin mine now works as an AI and high-performance computing center under a 15-year lease.
Phase II will add 260 megawatts of critical IT load, with initial deliveries expected in the first half of 2027. Phase III would add another 133 megawatts beginning in 2028. CoreWeave has committed to 526 megawatts of critical IT load overall. Galaxy projects the leases could generate more than $1 billion in average annual revenue if fully used. That remains a projection.
Texas infrastructure keeps growing
Helios has 800 megawatts of approved and contracted gross power. The campus could eventually support several gigawatts, but that depends on grid studies, construction and customer demand. Galaxy financed Phase I with a $1.4 billion secured facility and $350 million of its own equity.
Galaxy has also bought 500 acres in McGregor for another data center. That project targets an initial 74-megawatt phase, with power delivery expected in 2028 if permitting and construction milestones are met. At Helios, the next meaningful safety updates will be the number of personnel, equipment on site and completion of joint training. None of those details appeared in the initial announcement.
The partnership adds a dedicated emergency layer to a growing industrial campus. Its effectiveness will depend on implementation, coordination and response standards.
