Dogecoin has been quiet for a while, but some traders think that could change soon. Crypto analyst Ali Martinez pointed to a rare set of signals on the monthly chart that previously led to a sharp rally.
Monthly chart hints at a reversal
Martinez noted that the Tom DeMark (TD) Sequential indicator recently flashed a buy signal on Dogecoin’s monthly chart. That signal came after the coin printed an inverted hammer candle and started forming a doji. The last time this combination appeared was August 2022. Back then, DOGE rallied about 145% over the following month.
That does not guarantee the same thing will happen now. Markets repeat patterns only when conditions line up, and conditions are rarely identical. Still, the resemblance is hard to ignore. Dogecoin has fallen sharply from its 2025 highs, so a trend reversal would fit the broader picture.
Whales are stacking DOGE
On-chain data from Santiment shows that large holders have been buying. Over the past week, whale addresses added more than 430 million DOGE. Their combined holdings moved from roughly 18.47 billion DOGE to nearly 18.85 billion DOGE. This type of accumulation often shows up before rallies, as big investors quietly absorb supply while prices are weak.
There is no way to know if these whales are positioning for a short-term bounce or something bigger. But the timing matters. It comes at a moment when technical indicators are starting to look less bearish.
Key levels to watch
Glassnode’s UTXO Realized Price Distribution data highlights a major resistance zone at $0.0813. More than 30 billion DOGE changed hands around that level, which makes it a heavy supply cluster. If Dogecoin can close the monthly above this zone, it would suggest buyers have absorbed that selling pressure. The next target after that would be $0.1774, where another large cluster of historical transactions sits.
At press time, DOGE was trading at $0.07, up about 0.6% in the last 24 hours. It also gained roughly 0.6% on the weekly chart. The price remains below the 50-day simple moving average at $0.07187 and well below the 200-day SMA at $0.09014. The 14-day RSI stands at 44.13, which points to neutral momentum with a slight bearish tilt.
Dogecoin is not oversold, and the broader trend is still down. Buyers need to push price above the 50-day SMA to give the recovery case more weight. A move above the 200-day SMA would be needed to confirm a longer-term shift. Until then, the rally talk remains speculative, but I think the recent signals are at least worth watching.
